Dr Alessio Di Roberto is a researcher at the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, in Pisa. His research activities are mainly focused on the tephrostratigraphy and tephrochronology of deep sea, lacustrine, and terrestrial sediment records. He also evaluates data obtained from volcano-sedimentary studies of proximal and distal pyroclastic deposits to reconstruct the eruptive dynamics, magmatic history, and instability events of the volcanic edifices.

In Antarctica he focuses on the study of tephra records from sediment cores sampled in the Ross Sea region and on the reconstruction of eruptive history of Mount Melbourne and Mount Rittman volcanic complexes.
