Science Team

Arne Ulfers is an early career scientist at the Leibniz Institute for Applied Geophysics (LIAG), Germany, where he is currently working on sediment cores from the eastern equatorial Atlantic.

During his PhD at the Leibniz Institute for Applied Geophysics (LIAG) in Hannover and the University of Frankfurt, Germany, he was involved in several ICDP projects. He focused primarily on the interpretation of geophysical borehole logs, which he used to characterize sediment properties, and on cyclostratigraphic analyses to construct robust age-depth models for Pleistocene sedimentary sequences. With this background, he will be part of the geophysical downhole logging team in SWAIS2C and operate the logging tools from LIAG and the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) in Antarctica.
